I don’t know with whom I am more furious. President Obama or the organizations and “progressives” who don’t hold him accountable for the epic numbers of immigrants being deported for minor offenses or for none at all. Or the people who pretend it’s all hearts and rainbows when it comes to immigrants and Obama. Check out this USA Today article.
“U.S. immigration officials laid out plans last year that would ratchet up expulsions of immigrants convicted of minor crimes as part of an urgent push to make sure the government would not fall short of its criminal deportation targets, new records obtained by USA TODAY show.”
Maybe I spoke too soon…maybe he’s just working to ratchet up deportation of really violent, dangerous criminals.
Among those new tactics – detailed in interviews and internal e-mails – were trolling state driver’s license records for information about foreign-born applicants, dispatching U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents to traffic safety checkpoints conducted by police departments, and processing more illegal immigrants who had been booked into jails for low-level offenses.
Obama talks about plans for immigration reform, and at the same time, his own departments are the ones deporting immigrants in massive numbers. It’s so confusing! I don’t get it! Somebody help!
Here’s a simple diagram that you should have probably seen in, oh, I don’t know, like fourth grade or something.
I know, it’s pretty complex. But if you spend some time looking at it, you’ll have a moment of clarity and realize that the administrative branch of government, and therefore, Obama, is directly responsible for ripping families apart.
Here’s America’s Voice’ totally awkward and misleading press release on the topic, which somehow paints DHS as an entity over which Obama has no authority (!?).
We have nothing left with which we could hold Obama accountable. He’s already been re-elected. All we have is an appeal to his “legacy” and the hope that maybe, deep inside, he sympathizes with millions of undocumented immigrants who are just trying to make it.
In the meantime, you can donate to the undocumented youth who are not afraid of stopping deportations, calling it like it is, and rattling people to great results: DreamActivist. National Day Laborers Organizing Network. If you want other suggestions, I have them. Anyways:
